Overview of the series
PURPOSE
To encourage youth and their guardians (the church) to appreciate that everyone is significant and has a God-given purpose, which the LORD will reveal as we seek Him.
METHOD
FBC Church School lessons from September 17-October 29 will be geared to aid students in preparing a verbal statement regarding their interests and/or future goals to be made during Sunday Worship Service on October 29. Typical components of the service will be enhanced by testimony from the youth regarding what they think they want to accomplish in their lives along with encouragement from the church to seek what God has predestined for them to accomplish with the life He has given them.
WEEK SEVEN (October 29)
Sacrificing to Meet the Goal
There is an opportunity cost associated with our choices. In other words, something must be sacrificed if it competes with achieving our goals. Consider what must be sacrificed in order to seek and perform God's will.
WEEK SIX (October 22)
Understanding that Faith Without Good Works is Useless
Let us consider what kind of effort (work) we must put in to fulfill our God-given purpose. For instance, does doing so involve practicing mental and physical skills? Are there things from which we should abstain?
WEEK FIVE (October 15)
Appreciating Why We Have Our Talents
We should appreciate how our God-given talents are not meant to solely benefit ourselves. Let's explore how our talents can help others as we pursue our life missions as guided by the LORD.
WEEK FOUR (October 8)
How to Seek God’s Will in Our Lives (Part two)
Prayer is key to seeking God’s will in our lives. Let us endeavor to better understand the prayer that Jesus gave to those who would listen to Him and how the components of the prayer can guide our life pursuits.
WEEK THREE (October 1)
How to Seek God’s Will in Our Lives (Part One)
Given that God’s purpose is for us to be “conformed to the image of His Son,” (Romans 8:29) we must look for ways to emulate Christ as we live our journey. Let's explore how we may express or emulate such love through our actions, vocations, and/or life missions.
WEEK TWO (September 24)
Appreciating God’s Purpose for Us
We are not here by mere coincidence. God has a purpose for everyone, which makes everyone significant. Know also that God will hold us accountable for how we live our journey. Today we will continue to document our life goals while seeking God's direction.
WEEK ONE (September 17)
self Discovery
Students will share what they enjoy doing and explore how that might shape their future vocations and/or life missions. They will also be encouraged to not forget to seek God’s direction as their journey progresses. Facilitators will assist them in beginning the process of documenting their thoughts.
